PU Chiin Wares and Some Other individuals 113 gate the surface of the Chiin wares have been noticed by Chinesewriters as hares fur marking and flames of blue. ^ Other folks,which appear to be irregular partings in the colour of the glaze,have been named chiu ying wen or earthworm marks. Theselast hardly ever appear except on the finer kind of Chiin wares, and,like the tear stains on the Ting porcelains, they are regardedas signs of authenticity. Although the beautiful Chiin wares of the tzil fai group will alwaysbe uncommon and expensive, Western collectors have been fortunate in secur-ing a fair quantity of specimens, and a superb series of themwas brought collectively in March, 1914, in the exhibition held by theJapan Society of New York. The types of the flower pots varyconsiderably.
